  • Bucasia State School enacts the Australian Curriculum by following the Curriculum to Classroom (C2C) resources as a starting point.  We develop and maintain a whole school curriculum, assessment and reporting plan with three levels of planning to ensure all students access high quality teaching and learning opportunities.

    ·       Three levels of planning:

    1.     Whole School

    2.     Year Level Plans/Band Level Plans

    3.     Unit Plans (including risk assessment documentation)

We use a whole school approach to differentiated teaching and learning for all students.

    Overview

The Australian Curriculum is designed to help all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. Presented as a developmental sequence of learning from Foundation - Year 10, the Australian Curriculum describes to teachers, parents, students and others in the wider community what is to be taught and the quality of learning expected of young people as they progress through school.

The three-dimensional design of the Foundation – Year 10 Australian Curriculum recognises the importance of disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding alongside general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.

Disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding are described in the eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies and Languages. The latter four learning areas have been written to include multiple subjects, reflecting custom and practice in the discipline. In each learning area or subject, content descriptions specify what young people will learn, and achievement standards describe the depth of understanding and the sophistication of knowledge and skill expected of students at the end of each year level or band of years.

What is Curriculum into the Classroom (C2C)?

State Schools Division developed the Curriculum into the Classroom (C2C) materials to support Queensland state school teachers deliver the Australian Curriculum.

C2C is a comprehensive set of whole-school and classroom planning materials for single-level and multi-level classes. The materials reflect the diverse needs of Queensland students including those in rural and remote areas, small schools, students enrolled through the schools of distance education and students with diverse learning needs and abilities.

C2C has been designed as a starting point for school curriculum planning and can be adopted or adapted to meet individual student learning needs and to suit local school contexts. C2C materials are regularly reviewed and refined to align with changes to the Australian Curriculum and in response to feedback from schools and stakeholders.
